I have oily, prone to acne NC25 skin.
Skin Food Gingko Green BB Cream (S$31.20 for a 50ml tube) - There are 2 shades, #1 & #2. #1 is suitable for those with yellow undertones while #2 is suitable for those with pink undertones. This is the first BB Cream that I started on. This gives a natural dewy glow upon application but oil control isn't that fantastic. The texture is rather liquidified and easy to blend. Coverage is pretty good too. I love the glow so the oiliness didn't quite bother me. All I have to do was to blot every now and then.
Tony Moly Secret Natural BB Cream (I paid about S$38 for a 50ml tube. its not available in Singapore though) - Tony Moly has 2 BB Creams, the other is the Whitening if I'm not wrong. Oh well, I dont quite like this BB Cream. Texture is slightly liquidfied and rather easy to blend but what I dont like about Tony Moly is the coverage and the weird smell that came with it. The coverage isn't fantastic. Its not thick and heavy enough to cover. If you have spots, acne and whatnots, this will not cover. You'll have to use a concealer. It doesn't give the dewy glow but the oily look on contary. Oil control isn't fantabulous but its slightly better than Skin Food. Oh yes, it has a rather weird smell too. Can't explain what it resembles but it sure has a weird smell.
Missha M BB Cream (S$32.90 for a 50ml tube) - Missha has 3 different BB Creams and this silver tube (Missha M) is suitable for oily skin. The oil control for this is definitely better than the above 2. Drawback is that the texture is rather thick and kinda difficult to blend. Coverage is pretty good too but it doesnt really give the dewy glowy look. Overall, this is better than Tony Moly but does not give the dewy glow of Skin Food though its oil control is better than Skin Food.
Skin79 dermaRX Beblesh Balm (i got a good deal for this. paid S$48 though it will probably cost close to S$60 to be shipped to Singapore) - The shade was a little too dark for me. Coverage isn't fanastic as I thought it would be. It was pretty light. Texture is thicker than Skin Food but not as thick as Missha M. Oil control is slightly better than Missha M and I love the Tea Tree scent that came along with it. I reckon this has more medicinal properties (though all bb creams are suppose to treat acne) due to the Tea Tree oil that it contains but I have not used it long enough to be able to review this.
BRTC Perfect Blemish Balm (together with the Dr Jart+ Rejuvenating Balm, I paid close to S$130 for these 2 tubes including some other items bundled together) - This has got to be one of the best BB Cream in my collection. Its oil control is superb. Texture was pretty thick when I first squeezed it outta the tube (it kinda reminded me of the Missha M BB Cream) but upon application, it seems fine. It blended into my skin tone pretty well. Coverage is rather good too. It gave a very natural dewy glow to the face in which I initially thought my face was oily but when I tried to blot, it was actually the dewy and glow the BB Cream gave! After 9hrs of application, my face was glowing and I super love it!
Dr Jart+ Rejuvenating Blemish Balm - I love the coverage! The coverage is so much better than BRTC's Recover Balm. No concealer required! Was kinda skeptical about the coverage initially because it appeared very liquidfied but upon application, it proved otherwise. The shade was a little pale for me initially but 2 hrs later, it blended into my skin tone and looks really natural. Oil control isnt as fantastic as the 2 BRTCs but its still alright. It does give a slight dewy glow to my face but its not as dewy as Skin Food.
The Face Shop BB Cream (approximately NT400-ish for a 25ml tube. its not available in Singapore) - This has gotta be the most dissapointing BB Cream of the lot. Oil control is bad, coverage is bad. You'll get that dewy glowy look but its due to the oil that your face is producing. In short, BAD BAD BAD, Lousy Lousy Lousy. Used it twice and have never touched it again. Well, there are 2 good points bout this though. The texture is pretty light and easy to blend. Other than these 2, its just BAD.
BRTC Recover Balm (its not available in Singapore and I paid about S$45+ for a 30ml tube) - Texture is slightly thicker than BRTC Perfect Blemish Balm but its coverage wasn't as good as the Perfect Blemish Balm (i still had to use concealer for my undereye circles, unlike the Perfect Blemish Balm which I did not have to use a concealer). The oil control is definitely better than Perfect Blemish Balm because at the end of 9hrs, my face still looks matte with a slight dewy look. I did not blot my face at all. Unlike the BRTC Perfect Blemish Balm which gave the glowy, dewy look, the Recover Balm gave a very matte look.
Dodo Club BB Cream (S$18 for a 60ml tube) - I have yet to own a tube of this but with a sample, I am still able to give a review. Texture is slightly thicker than Skin Food but not as thick as Missha M. Coverage was pretty good but oil control isnt as good as Missha M but way better than Skin Food. Blendibility is better than Missha M too. It does give a dewy look but not as dewy as Skin Food. Overall, I'll like this BB Cream over Missha M if I have not tried the 2 BRTCs. I would love to own a tube actually.
For those who are interested in BB Creams and have never tried BB Creams before, I would strongly recommend you to try something that is not too high-end for starters. Brands like Skin Food, Missha and/or Dodo Club would be suitable as its available in Singapore. Singapore only carries Skin Food, Missha and Dodo Club BB Cream by the way.
Honestly speaking, my complexion has improved tremendously since I started using BB Creams. It is able to provide the coverage of a foundation without clogging my pores and at the same time gives a glow to my complexion. Unlike foundation which at times does cake up, BB Creams doesn't. It doesn't oxidize on your face too. BB Cream should not be left overnight, you should remove it at the end of the day with a proper makeup remover and cleanser.
Application of BB Cream? This is how I apply it:
1) Normal skin care regime including moisturizer
2) Sunblock (this can be skipped if your BB Cream and/or moisturizer has SPF)
3) Makeup Base (though this can be skipped because BB Cream acts as a makeup base too but I'm using Skin Food Peach Sake Pore Minimizing Base which helps to control excess sebum and refines my pores)
4) BB Cream
5) Loose Powder (to set and to help control excess oil. again, you can omit this if you feel the coverage is fine)
*If you require a heavier coverage, you can mix your normal liquid foundation with the BB Cream to apply or go over with your 2-way cake, pressed powder after the application of the BB Cream. If concealer is required, I normally apply before the loose powder.
Dont know what a BB Cream is? Refer to this link for more details. BRTC Perfect blemish Balm has been discontinued since January 2008. I have answered tons of queries on how to get this BB. It is no longer available and I am not selling samples of this BB. I'm reserving this BB for myself.
