Review of majority of BBs Here
Review of Skin Food Aloe Sun SPF20 Here
Scandal Magic : It's retailing for S$19.90 for a 50ml tube but there was a 20% promotion and I paid S$15.90 for it. This BB is good for those who prefers a lighter coverage. Texture is light and very easy to blend. Pretty good oil control too. Doesn't give a dewy look though. For those who needs a BB to cover and conceal, this will dissapoint you. I only like its oil control. This is a good BB for those who has never used BBs before.
Castledew by VOV Whitening: Retailing for S$39.50 but I paid S$31.60 during a promotion for a 50ml tube. Coverage is much better than Scandal Magic and gives a relatively good dewy look. Texture is slightly thicker than Scandal Magic (which gives a better coverage), pretty easy to blend too. Oil control isnt as good as Scandal Magic though but pretty managable. It has an SPF15 so if you're lazy to apply sunscreen, this is pretty recommendable (unless you need a higher SPF coverage)
Missha M Perfect Cover SPF 42: Got this through a CP directly from Korea with the help of Cousin Megan. I paid about S$24+ including shipping to Singapore. I reckon this will probably retail for S$35+ when it launches in Singapore. This is one of the best coverage BBs I've ever used! It has the highest SPF too! With a SPF of 42, you really do not need additional sunscreen. Oil control isn't the best but its rather manageable. Its a little thick in terms of texture (I wonder if its in all Missha's BB because the Missha M (silver tube) is pretty thick too) but I'm not complaining because of its excellent coverage! Oh, this has Anti-Wrinkle properties too!
Skin Food Mushroom Multi-Care SPF20 : Got this through a CP from Korea too. I paid about S$20+ including shipping. This will probably retail for S$40? As the main ingredient is mushroom, it has a super duper strong mushroom smell which I can't stand. I'm not a mushroom person so I can't stand the smell. Other than the smell, texture is pretty light but coverage is pretty decent (loses to Skin Food Aloe Sun though) and its easy to blend. Oil control is manageable but loses out to the Skin Food Aloe Sun and Scandal Magic BB. I love this for its Anti-Aging properties because of the main ingredient, mushroom. It also contains aloe which is a skin soother and arbutin which is skin whitening ingredient.
Beauty Credit Lovely Green Tea : It's retailing for S$43.90 for a 35ml tube but I got 2 tubes for the price of 1 during ther 1-for-1 promotion. This is one of the most pricey BB if it wasnt for the promotion. It has a slight green tea scent but not as strong as the Skin Food Gingko Green BB. Pretty pleasant scent I must say. There is only 1 shade for this and it resembles Scandal Magic (which is on the darker side but it still could match my NC25 skin tone). Texture is slightly thicker than Scandal Magic and coverage is pretty good too. Pretty easy to blend. Oil control loses to Scandal Magic though but still managable. No special skin properties but I like its pleasant scent that comes along with it.
I have had so many questions on which is the best BB. Honestly, it really depends on your needs. Depending on the occasion and mood, I'll reach out for different BBs everyday. If I've to rank my favourite 3, this is what I'll recommend:
1) Skin Food Aloe Sun SPF 20 (oil control is really good and coverage is pretty decent and I love the sweet aloe scent! its one of my personal favourite) 2) Missha M Perfect Cover SPF 42 (its coverage is by-far the best (put aside BRTC) and has the highest SPF and the anti-wrinkle properties) 3) Castledew by VOV SPF 15 (oil control is better than Missha M Perfect Cover but i'm ranking it as #3 because it does not have anti-wrinkle properties. I love the dewy look that comes with it)
Though I like the Skin Food Mushroom Multi-Care SPF20 but I can't stand the mushroom scent. If it wasn't the strong mushroom scent, I'll probably rank it #3.
For beginners, here's my top 3 recommendations: 1) Dodo Club (pretty decent oil control, slight dewy look and pretty easy to blend) 2) Scandal Magic (has an oil control better than Dodo Club but coverage is pretty light) 3) Skin Food Gingko Green (coverage is pretty decent, easy to blend, has the best dewy look but oil control isnt very fantastic)
There are still quite a number of BBs I've not had the chance to try but after trying so many, what I'm mainly concerned when I try new BBs are: 1) Blendibility / Texture 2) Oil Control 3) Coverage These are the top 3 factors that I look out for when I use BBs. Additional properties like SPF, anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, whitening are definitely a plus factor(s)!

Dear BB guru, hey does BB cream have moisturizing properties? But if i use it for long haul flights, will it like suffocate my skin? Yours, BB virgin Fri, Jan. 4th, 2008 03:51 pm (UTC)
kimoko

HAHAHA Dear BB virgin, BBs does have moisturizing properties. i would recommend BBs over tinted moisturizers or foundation for long hauls which tends to be drying in the aircraft. BBs does not dry up the skin. it provides moisture while soothing the skin. :) Sincerely, not-a BB Garu Fri, Jan. 4th, 2008 02:08 pm (UTC)

kimoko: Re: custom purchase

Skin Food Gingko Green and Aloe Sun is OOS island wide so I will not be able to get you these 2. As for Missha M Perfect Cover, its not available in Singapore, it was recently launched in Korea and it will probably not hit the shelves of Singapore so soon. I can only help get the Dodo Club, Scandal Magic and Castledew by VOV from your list. Still interested? :) Sat, Jan. 5th, 2008 09:10 am (UTC)

OMG. BB queen!! lol i will read it when i have more time....slowly go through the details. btw i just wanted to ask you about the Palgantong Powder. i saw you spree-ed for it before. how is it? feel like trying. lol. hows the colour? since it only comes in Natural Beige. will it be too dark for you/me? anyway.. bought anything from MAC yet? :D i havent been to the counters for a longggggggggg time already Sun, Jan. 6th, 2008 03:51 pm (UTC)
kimoko

i can't help but believe in BBs because my complexion really improved. i stopped my accutane but my skin is improving even without medication. the palgantong powder, i'm no longer using it because its too thick if i use over my BB. i cannot live without my bb so i stopped using the powder. the shade is pretty okie to me. oil control is rather good too but too bad its too thick over bbs. i've not bought anything too. no lemmings leh. nothing interested too. everything is like so similar. well, in a way, its good for me too lah. you haven't bought anything from mac but you bought so many Bobbi Brown stuff loh! u went on a bobbi brown spree instead! oh hi, i'm totally new to BB Cream can u pls advice me? my skin is oily and blemish prone yet its very dry and peeling at the the same time. Am i suitable to use BB cream? which type will u advice? thank u so much =) Mon, Jan. 7th, 2008 06:33 am (UTC)
kimoko

i'm no expert and i've oily prone to acne so its really different from yours. you might want to try something more moisturizing like Skin Food Gingko Green, Missha M Vita (i do not own it, its a gold tube), The Face Shop (to me is lousy because its too oily for me, i reckon its good for those whose skin is dry), Dodo Club, Castledew by VOV and probably even Beauty Credit Lovely Green Tea. :) You ought to try samples prior committing to the full retail tube. :) HTHS. Tue, Jan. 8th, 2008 09:24 am (UTC) (Anonymous): bb cream that gives slight glow?
Hi Kimoko I've read that your fave is brtc perfect blemish from the previous review. Was wondering for this entry, did you take the old bb creams in consideration when ranking your fave to be SF aloe?
Coz currently im using dr jart+ black label and brtc perfect blemish interchangeably. Love the dewy look both gives to bits. But heard that perfect blemish is discontinued by brtc. Looking for another one that gives a slight glow. Pondering over which i should buy next.
PS: Skin has been flaking like crazy while using the retin-a cream doc prescribed for my on and off acne. My doc managed to turn me from oily to dry skin LOL. But i reckon I'll become oily again once i stop retin-a. BB cream is like godsend =P Tue, Jan. 8th, 2008 05:32 pm (UTC)
kimoko: Re: bb cream that gives slight glow?

i prefer skin food aloe sun bb over brtc. i was previously on accutane but i kept nose bleeding coz it was too drying for me. now that i'm using bb, i'll never go back to accutane. my complexion improved so much even without oral medication. :) for a slight dewy look, i'll recommend Castledew by VOV. hi was wondering if you could organize a spree for missha M perfect cover? =X Tue, Jan. 15th, 2008 02:49 am (UTC)
kimoko

there are spree(s) going on for BB creams which includes the Missha M Perfect Cover. You can participate in those sprees. its not easy to make payment to Korea (not many has paypal and after several horrible experiences, i'll never trust concealed cash again), else, i would organize sprees. :) if i have an alternative to payment, i'll organize sprees for BBs. ;) Mon, Jan. 21st, 2008 07:10 am (UTC)

Hi dear,
may i ask for the MISSHA M Perfect Cover SPF 42, which shade did you get? The #21(fair) or #23(natural)? I'm thinking of getting the #23 but heard it's too dark so i need some advice on choosing the shade. Thanks! =) Mon, Jan. 21st, 2008 07:42 am (UTC)
kimoko

i'm using #21. i didn't know there were 2 shades when i got it. it fits me fine as i'm an NC20-25. i'm becoming fairer by the day because of BB creams. :) Mon, Jan. 21st, 2008 05:34 pm (UTC) (Anonymous): samples
elo there, was wondering if you have Dr.Jart Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream samples? i cant seem to find anione who has it. could you help ask around. :) Mon, Jan. 21st, 2008 05:47 pm (UTC)

Hi is the coverage of skinfood aloe lesser than missha m perfect cover? I cant decide among the two. Missha one sounds good because of the coverage but skinfod aloe has the dewvy look which I want too. But is the missha's coverage good enough to not use concealer? Oh ya palgantong has a bb cream. Are you gonna try it soon? I bought it but it has not arrived. It'll probably be my first bb cream. Wed, Jan. 23rd, 2008 11:39 am (UTC)
kimoko

yea, skin food aloe sun bb's coverage loses to missha m perfect cover. no concealer required. actually, the skin food aloe sun doesnt require concealer too. just that missha m perfect cover is slightly thicker in terms of coverage. u ordered through the spree from sasa.com ya? i was the one who informed the organizer of this bb cream. :) I've ordered it together with a few other new bbs (like Etude house, Coogi, palgantong, the new formula of Dr Jart+ Rejuvenating, etc) which will be arriving soon. once i have gotten it, i'll post a pic with the reviews. :) Fri, Jan. 25th, 2008 12:25 am (UTC) (Anonymous): Skin Food Gingko BB Cream - Shade #2

hi kimoko
can you recommend a BB cream for oily, pimple-prone skin (with enlarged pores :( )which has moisturizing properties, can blend well with tinted moisturizer, wont cake if i put some facepowder as third layer (TM, BB then facepowder), and preferably costs less than $20 for the full bottle/tube?
eunice.silence@gmail.com thanks! Mon, Jan. 28th, 2008 06:18 am (UTC)
kimoko: Re: hello!

are you refering to SGD? well, the only 2 brands under the price of S$20 are Dodo Club & Scandal Magic. i do not use tinted moisturizer so i wouldnlt know if BB can blend with a tinted moisturizer. you have to probably bring along your tinted moisturizer to try it with the testers in store. :) Mon, Jan. 28th, 2008 02:27 pm (UTC)
me0wy: missha

for the missha m perfect cover, which shade did you use? alot of girls said to get the 2nd shade the darker one as it suits most ppl. if i rmb correctly im a NC20 or NC25.... Mon, Jan. 28th, 2008 02:43 pm (UTC)

Use BB Cream to replace your foundation. :) Do email me at bubblegum_kimoko@yahoo.com if you decide to get the Dodo Club sample. Sun, Feb. 3rd, 2008 08:56 am (UTC) (Anonymous)

I got it from a cosmetics/skin care store diagonally opposite ParkWay Parade's Swensens, Basement 1. :) Wed, Feb. 6th, 2008 06:18 am (UTC) (Anonymous): BB Cream
I just purchased my first BB Cream by Dr. Schrammek. It costed $145 for a small tub. I realize now that I was screwed by the sales lady.
It is available on Ebay for about $58.
Question: is it true that with BB cream, one does NOT need moisturizer, make-up base OR sunscreen? The lady kept insisting that BB cream covers all three, although it DOES NOT state "SPF" on the tube.
Comments? Wed, Feb. 6th, 2008 09:44 am (UTC)
kimoko: Re: BB Cream

I do not own Dr Schrammek so I can't comment on this BB cream but: BB creams can help moisturize but you still need your basic moisturizer to hydrate. If I'm going out for a short while (less than 4 hrs), I'll skip my moisturizer. More than that, I'll never skip my moisturizer. BB cream is a makeup base and you can skip it if you do not wish to layer too many products on your face. At times when I feel lazy, I'll skip my makeup base too. My makeup base is Peach Sake Minimizing Base which helps to minimize the pores in a long run so I prefer to use it. Most bb creams states that its a sunscreen but even if the tube contains SPF, I'll never skip my sun screen. The only BB cream that I leave out my sunscreen is Missha M Perfect Cover which contains SPF42++. Anything lesser than that, I'll never skip my sunscreen. I'm not a skin consultant and this is my basically my own opinion. Its up to individual I suppose. :) Fri, Feb. 8th, 2008 12:24 pm (UTC) (Anonymous): missha's bb
hey there, i was just wondering what's the difference btw Missha M Perfect Cover and the original one in the silver tube. well, besides the spf factor. :) thanks! Mon, Feb. 11th, 2008 02:57 am (UTC)

Wow..jus looking at ur amt of bb creams, gives me a headache..;p Anyway, i m just wondering have u tried brtc whitening bb cream?? Of ur huge collection, which would u rate as the best-est of the best?? Finally, how can anyone of us purchase brtc prods? Thanks alot.... ;) Tue, Feb. 26th, 2008 03:59 am (UTC)
kimoko: Re: Curious....

No I've not tried the BRTC Whitening BB as its too rich and moisturizing for my oily skin. I do not have a personal favourite as each BB has its own unique characteristic. On days I want a matte look, i'll reach out for one that does it. On days I want a dewy look, I'll reach out for one that does it. I rotate my BBs everyday so everyday I'm using a different BB. :P Sadly, BRTC can only be bought from Korea, online. They do not have a retail store. There are sellers selling BRTC in yahoo auctions. You can try your luck there though they are a little overpriced. :) HTHs. Mon, Mar. 3rd, 2008 06:59 am (UTC) (Anonymous): skinfood aloe sun bb cream shade
hi i'm yam!
i just wanna ask what SF aloe sun are you using with your NC25 skintone? thanks! Mon, Mar. 3rd, 2008 07:07 am (UTC)
kimoko: Re: skinfood aloe sun bb cream shade

The difference between skin food shades is #1 is for yellow undertones and #2 is for pink undertones. For my skin tone, i am using a mixture of #1 & #2 (i mix both to get a closer match to my skin tone). You can be NC30 but with a yellow undertone and you can be an NC20 with a pink undertone so its not that #1 is for fair and #2 is for tanned skin. :) Wed, Mar. 5th, 2008 07:23 pm (UTC) (Anonymous): Missha M Perfect
Hi! Do you know the difference between the two shades? Light and Natural? Is it like Skin Food where one is for yellow tones and one for pink tone or are the shades significantly darker/lighter than one another? Thanks! Fri, Mar. 7th, 2008 11:28 am (UTC)

Hi gal, U really have lot of BB Cream leh!!! O.o Did u try Hanskin premium perfect super magic BB Cream b4? Currently I'm using this... but think of giving Dr. Jart a try too... Like to ask whether did u know Dr.Jart Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream or Dr.Jart Silver Label Repairing BB Cream will have a more similar tone as Hanskin premium perfect super magic BB Cream? Btw I use ZA 2-way foundation #21 (blue case) Fri, Mar. 7th, 2008 10:13 am (UTC)

hanskin and dr jart black label will be too moisturizing for my skin so no, i'm not trying these 2. :) |
