There's a strange relationship between me and..
Yea, I'm a hugeeeeeeee fan of gel / cream liners. I can't work with liquid liners for nuts. I've been trying them for the longest time but have since given up. And I can't live without my gel liners today.
Gel / Cream liners are foolproof to me. I remember how I instantly fell in love with gel liners the first time I tried it. I started out trying pencil eye liners quite a couple of years ago but didn't quite like how it often smudges on me. I then started researching on eye liners and found that gel liners seem to be my next best solution. My first pot was from Bobbi Brown Long Wearing Gel Liner. I got it off Yahoo! just so that I could try it before making the commitment.
My elder sister had an angled brush from The Body Shop then and I tried the gel liner with that brush. I tried it and was love at first sight. Not only could I control the thickness of the liner, it was an extremely smooth application too! One quick stroke and that was it! I then began to do more research and started to invest into more liners. The only draw back bout gel / liners are that you need a seperate eyeliner brush for application and if its not stored properly, they tend to dry up pretty quickly.
If you have seen my makeup cabinet video, you'll realize that I've stored my gel liners lid-side down. This prevents the product from drying up quicker than it should. I can't think of a better reason for that than, when you open and close the lid of the jar, air tends to trap in the container so if you store it lid-side down, it prevents air from settling on the product. Well, I'm not saying that I'm definitely right. No matter what you do, air will be trapped in the container but placing it lid-side down definitely prolong the life of my liners. And the next reason is, its easier for me to know the shade of my liner since I have more than 3 liners in the same packaging.
Well, you will now probably ask me for my personal recommendation or my favourite. From the pic above, you'll notice that I have more MAC fluidlines but honestly, my personal favourite is the Clinique Brush-on Cream Liner. Its very creamy (thus the name, Cream Liner) and not a gel-like texture from the other gel liners. MAC fluidlines tend to smudge a little if I use it on its own but with a good primer, everything is smudge-proof. It comes with a tiny brush for application too so for beginners who does not want to spend too much for a liner and a brush (at times, a good eyeliner brush can cost as much or more than the liner), the Clinique would be a pretty good choice to begin with. The only draw back is that in Singapore, we only have about 2-3 shades to select from.
So if you are into funky liners, try MAC Fluidlines (they have one of the largest variety of colors for you to select from) for something that is available in Singapore. Bobbi Brown do have quite a few shades but they are not as funky as MAC's.
*I know for a fact that MAD minerals & Coastal Scents has funky gel liners too but if its too much of a hassle for you to order them online or get them through sprees, your only choice is MAC.
Are you a gel / cream eyeliner lover like I am?
