John Little's 'No Frills' Sale

Yup, I made it to the sale yesterday. Guess what did I get?

Till this very moment, I still find it unbelievable that I bought each of the palette for 30% OFF its retail price (excluding the 3% rebate for Valueplus members) ! Fasio cosmetics had a further 10% in addition to the storewide 20% including the newly launched collection! I wanted to get all 5 of the gradation palettes that I was lemming for but I settled for 3 and 1 of the Metallic Nuance palette in #5. All these 4 palettes for S$67.61 (the 3% rebate's S$2.03, which will bring my total to only S$65.58!!)!

The Gradation Palette's S$24 but after the 10 + 20%, each was S$17.28. The Metallic Nuance palette's S$21.90 but I paid S$15.77 for it. Great deal isn't it?

You girls have no idea how I was stalking the Fasio display while deciding on which palette(s) to get. And yea, I know I know, reviews right? Coming soon! I have tons of reviews to get to.

Anyone else hauled from the sale yet? Share your haul with me!

Oh, after dinner, bestie and myself headed over to the Biotherm counter at Robinson's Centrepoint as she wanted to pick up something. Both of us were hugeeee Biotherm fans 2 years ago (i could chalk up over S$2K worth of products in less than a year back then) but the products stopped working for me so we abandoned Biotherm.

Well, anyway, she wanted to get a jar of her favourite moisturizer, the Aquasource Non-Stop. The SA on duty then was a really nice lady! She was extremely patient and still had a smile when bestie said she'll consider bout the promo pack they had. We checked out other brands and made a detour to the counter to get the product. I was interested in one of the liquid foundation and asked if they had a sample that I could try. Instead of rejecting me, she said she'll go check the stock for her samples and she returned to inform me that she had 2 shades. She then went on to do a shade match for me and she did not give me 1 but 2 sachets of the foundation!

I was also interested in some products as they were the updated formula of what I was a fan to and I asked if she had samples for them too. No, I'm not being el-cheapo! I really wanted to try it! After all, I was an ex-Biotherm fan! Instead of showing me the you-are-damn-cheap-skate-only-scouting-for-samples face, she put on a wideeeee smile and said, YES and asked what other products I am interested to try.

My previous SA that served me was equally as nice and warm that when she switched counters, I followed her. Am I just lucky to have met really nice SA from Biotherm or are all Biotherm SAs as generous?

OH! Guess what happened next? At the check out counter, while she was packing bestie's products into the shopping bag, I casually asked for her name (when I meet nice people, I tend to ask for their name so I can remember them). She told me she's Poh Ching (I hope I got that right?) and whispered, "erm, are you by any chance Kimoko?" YES! Like OMG right?

I asked for her LJ nick but she said she doesnt comment here but she does read this journal faithfully. LOL. Babe, if you're reading this, leave me a comment please! You caught me at my most un-glam yesterday. I had a long day that I have not touched up my makeup after over 12 hours and my hair was in a total mess. I was drained and exhausted that I did not seem chirpy like I usually am. I swear that was my most un-glam me that you've seen! *excuses excuses excuses* I'll look for you the next time we need something from Biotherm!

It sure was an interesting Tuesday night for me!

*I'm sure my face's pretty recognizable by now and I'm positive that there are quite a few of you who have probably seen me around but did not come up to me to say hi. fattybooboo  is one of them yes? hehe. If you spot me, do come up and say Hi! I wont bite! I promise! LOL

Oh the smell is of roses, and I just find it very strong, I prefer my powder products to be unscented.

I actually enjoy depotting, I'll do it whenever my husband goes out of town, and I have the house to myself.

okay... so I snuck out at lunch to take you some pics lol.

you know what? you got me so tempted, i stopped by BHG @ bugis to take a look! LOL

yesm, they are darn cute! BUT i have yet to master my skills for cream blushes / rouge with fingers, i just started loving cream blushes/ rouge as a base for my blush (i've always been skeptical bout cream blush / rouge coz i've oily skin but i'm glad i tried it and i'm loving it!). I'm using a duo fibre stippling brush for application.

any tips on how to apply with fingers? ;)

do you use it as a base for your powdered blushes or you're using it on its own?

i'm gonna practice and hopefully by the next JL sale, i'm confident enough to pick them up! :P

Well for my regular cream blushes, I totally abandoned using a stipple brush to apply as I find it gives me patchy coverage. Instead I use my foundation brush (MAC 190) which I find works well with the emollient products.

That being said, someone taught me long ago that if you use fingers for cream blushers, you dab lightly up and down the cheekbones but don't smear/sweep, just keep dabbing it down.

However, with these mini Bourjois ones, they are actually quite sheer but buildable, so I don't think they're too hard to use with fingers in that respect.

Sometimes I use them as a base for powder, usually on days where I need them last me!

i have a problem of over blending with cream blushes and it ends up not noticable so i have to use a powder blush on top of it. i can never wear cream blush on its own.

with the 190, you sweep upwards from the apple of your cheeks or dabbing too?

so when you use the minis for touch up, you use your fingers? you dont carry your 190 around do you?

With the 190, I dab onto my apples and blend up the cheekbones, but the shape of the 190 doesn't lend well to dabbing. With the minis I just use my fingers as it's more convenient when I'm in the office and don't wanna whip out a ton of supplies in case my coworkers are around lol.
